Member of University of Hawaii System initiates electronic portfolio pilot program to focus on learning improvement and program assessment

With the adoption of iWebfolio, the College will further its goal to acquire and present evidence of institutionally defined learning and performance outcomes for external accreditation as well as providing an important means for students to exhibit their skills and competencies.

The iWebfolio Pilot program is scheduled to be implemented in the Information and Computer Science program at Leeward Community College, and will include every student enrolled in any of the participating program classes. First year implementation will include the use of two types of internally developed template designs; an assessment template, intended to collect and present evidence of continuous student progress toward the defined program learning and performance outcomes and a general purpose template which will incorporate elements related to student learning, expression and presentation.

Leeward Community College recognizes the importance of providing evidence of the value and calibre of education at their institution, both to distinguish their graduates to potential employers as well as distinguish their educational programs. They feel that iWebfolio will enable this by providing professional electronic portfolios to present and compare student learning and overall academic accomplishments.
