St. Edward's University Implements TracDat to Plan, Manage and Document Student and Institutional Achievement
Solution to Serve a Key Role as University Embarks on Five Year
Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP)

PITTSBURGH, PA, December 6, 2006 – Nuventive, a leading provider of individual and institutional assessment solutions, today announced that St. Edward’s University will implement Nuventive TracDat, an enterprise assessment management solution, to manage the process of strategic planning and student learning outcomes assessment throughout the institution.

Founded in 1885, St. Edward's University, located in Austin, Texas, is a private, Catholic, liberal arts institution with a diverse student population numbering more than 5,200. U.S. News & World Report’s annual ranking of American colleges and universities lists St. Edward’s as 24th among masters-granting institutions in its Western region. The university was also recognized in the college guide, Colleges of Distinction.

The implementation of TracDat will provide a university-wide assessment management solution, which will establish consistent processes for managing program improvements that are aligned with university goals and values. The web-based process solution provides users with a real-time means of updating, tracking, storing, retrieving, and sharing of assessment data that will support the institution’s continuous improvement initiative. TracDat will also enable the university to quickly and effectively respond to the increasing expectations of accreditation bodies for outcomes-based assessment and accountability by demonstrating how program improvements are being used to enhance learning and document progress toward the university’s mission.

Dr. Charles Bicak, Dean of Natural Sciences said, “TracDat is an important tool in managing the assessment plan process because it facilitates efficient and consistent collection and storage of important records related to the plan, the results, and implementation of appropriate changes that the data might suggest. Perhaps more important, the TracDat system is more than a record keeping tool. It is a system that helps clarify and guide assessment planning for the entire university.”

St. Edward's University will embark on a five year Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) in 2007. TracDat will provide a solution to integrate goals, information, measurements, and timetables, as well as aid in the collection of data on an established schedule. This will allow campus-wide evaluation of the progress of the QEP and real-time strategy revisions.

“In keeping with our operating principles, St. Edward's University, as a community, is committed to continuous assessment and improvement. TracDat will provide a means of documenting the measurement, analysis, and accomplishment of program and course objectives, which support the institution’s mission and goals,” said Dr. H. Ralph Wilburn, Assessment Coordinator.

“Institutions with a rich history of education and a commitment to continuous quality improvement like St. Edward’s University are looking for new ways to measure ongoing student and institutional achievement,” said Dr. David Raney, Nuventive CEO. We are very pleased that Nuventive was chosen to assist the university in this important continuing effort.”
